Update to our hybrid work model

Dear colleagues,

In the spring of 2023, Parks Canada adopted a common hybrid work model along with the rest of the federal public service. Yesterday, the Treasury Board Secretariat provided updated direction that requires office-based team members eligible for a hybrid work arrangement to work on-site at least 3 days per week by September 9, 2024. To ensure sustained leadership and effective support for teams, executives are expected to be on-site at least 4 days per week by September 2024.

This direction will apply to Parks Canada as well.

As Parks Canada team members, we know perhaps better than any other government department or Agency the benefits of in-person connection. Consistent, in-person interactions help us communicate with people, collaborate with each other, onboard new team members, and create a culture of belonging that informs our work and our service to Canadians.

This is an opportunity to enhance our hybrid workplaces through increased togetherness and our proven capacity to adapt and innovate. I am confident in our collective ability to implement this plan, which will make Parks Canada offices dynamic and welcoming places to work while continuing to offer the flexibility of some remote work.

More information on updating hybrid work arrangements will be provided by senior management in the coming months to help office-based team members prepare for September.

As always, I trust all team members to act with integrity in a manner that is consistent with our recently refreshed Values and Ethics Code and renewed Values and Operating Principles. I thank you all for your continued dedication to your work, your support for each other, and your cooperation.
