Announcement – Appointment of Mark LeBlanc - Field Unit Superintendent, Coastal British Columbia

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mark LeBlanc to the position of Field Unit Superintendent, Coastal British Columbia, within the Operations Directorate, effective December 11, 2023.

Mark began his career in 1989 as a Naval Surface Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy. He has over 30 years of experience in directing field operations and client liaison, and has worked extensively on the creation of Reconciliation programs. For many years, Mark has also volunteered as a Regional Parks Commissioner in the Juan de Fuca Region of Vancouver Island during a time of expansion of Regional Parks and trails.

Mark joins us from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans where he was Director of the Canadian Hydrographic Service, Pacific Region, and Senior Manager of the Institute of Ocean Sciences, in Sidney, British Columbia.

Mark holds a graduate diploma in Advanced GIS Applications from Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, British Columbia, as well as a Bachelor degree of Science in Chemistry from Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
