Launch of the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign

Colleagues,

Parks Canada is launching its Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC) today! This is the largest and most generous charitable campaign in Canada. I am excited to join this annual initiative that gives us the opportunity to come together as a team and support organizations that work tirelessly to improve the lives of those in need.

As we start this charitable drive, I encourage all employees to consider donating - even a small contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals and families who rely on the services provided by these charities. There are more than 86,000 Canadian registered organization to choose from. Make a difference for a cause close to your heart!

Personally, I am hoping to use this year’s campaign to support the thousands of Canadians, including some of our own colleagues, who have been impacted by wildfires and other natural disasters. The United Way—one of the central partners in the campaign—has set up special funds, such as the Northwest Territories Emergency Response Fund to help those affected.

I invite you to watch the Parks Canada campaign launch video, featuring our President Ron Hallman and myself. Learn more about the exciting fundraising activities and special events taking place throughout the campaign by exploring the 2023 GCWCC ParksNet page.

Additionally, I invite you to join the national GCWCC Campaign Opening Ceremony today from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. (ET). The event will feature John Hannaford, Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet and Jeremy Hansen, Canadian Space Agency Astronaut.

Together, we can create a positive and lasting impact on our communities. Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.

David Millar
