Update on resources available for our hybrid approach to work

Sent on February 22, 2023

Dear colleagues,

In December 2022, Parks Canada made the commitment to fully implement a hybrid approach to work. Many office-based team members may be eligible to work remotely for up to three days per week, or up to 60 percent of their normal work time, in accordance with an approved hybrid work agreement. These hybrid work agreements will be in effect no later than March 31, 2023.

To support this transition, there is a growing number of helpful resources available on the Return to Office Workplaces ParksNet page.

Along with the new Directive on Telework and the Hybrid Work Agreement form that have recently been published, you will now also find the Guide on Hybrid Work Arrangements. The Guide aims to inform and support discussions between managers and employees about hybrid work arrangements to help optimize telework and on-site work and to foster a diverse, inclusive, productive and flexible workplace.

Office-based team members are reminded that they are expected to develop their hybrid work agreements and that full implementation of the hybrid work approach be completed by March 31, 2023.

In addition, work continues to advance toward preparing office locations throughout many of our Parks Canada administered places. Teams are busy installing Wi-Fi, procuring equipment, and equipping workstations and boardrooms to improve the hybrid work environment. This work will continue over the next weeks and months to advance upgrades as much as, and as quickly as possible.

Please contact your manager if you have any questions or comments about our transition to a hybrid work model and thank you for your support during this period of transition.

Reminder to managers: In keeping with Parks Canada's procedures for communications with employees, managers are responsible for ensuring all employees under their responsibility receive the information intended for them. It is important that you find a means to transmit this message and, if any, the attachment(s) to employees without access to Parks Canada e-mail or the intranet, e.g., by posting it, circulating a paper copy or by any other appropriate means.
