Announcement – Retirement of Daniel Champoux – Director, Staffing Center of Expertise

Sent on January 23, 2023

Dear colleagues,

Daniel Champoux will be retiring after a successful 35-year career in both the private sector and the public service. His last day of work will be January 27, 2023.

Daniel began his public service career in 1988, in the Official Languages Branch, with the former Department of Public Works and Government Services Canada. In 1997, he took on new challenges in the private sector by joining the Nortel Networks team, where he was instrumental in numerous organizational transformation projects and played a leading role in the creation of a global human resources shared services centre.

In 2011, Daniel returned to the public service as Director of Staffing Operations, at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, before joining Parks Canada in October 2020. Since joining Parks Canada, Daniel has demonstrated incredible leadership in leading the Centre of Expertise in Staffing team. Among his many accomplishments, Daniel directed his team in modernizing the staffing policy, redefining the HR content on the intranet for managers, streamlining administrative processes and creating new, simple and effective tools.

Finally, I would like to thank Daniel for his dedication, his passion for Parks Canada's mandate, his many contributions, and the leadership he has shown in all aspects of his work.

Greg Bryant has kindly accepted to act as Director, Staffing Center of Experience, while an indeterminate staffing strategy is put in place.

Please join me in congratulating Daniel and wishing him well in his retirement plans.

Ron Hallman
President & CEO
