2023 Minister’s Round Table on Parks Canada

Dear colleagues,

The 2023 Minister’s Round Table on Parks Canada will take place throughout the months of January and February. Meetings (in person and virtual) will occur January 13 to February 23, 2023 with stakeholders who have an interest in Parks Canada, including Indigenous organizations, environmental and cultural non-governmental organizations, as well as the tourism industry. At the same time, the general public will have a chance to provide feedback via a virtual consultation, running from January 30 to February 13, 2023. This biennial dialogue represents an opportunity for all Canadians to share their perspectives and help shape the work of Parks Canada.

For 2023, the Minister’s Round Table on Parks Canada will focus on five themes:

  • Strengthening Accessibility;
  • Indigenous Stewardship of Protected Heritage Places;
  • Ecological Corridors;
  • Parks Canada and Tourism; and
  • Greening Parks Canada.

National historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas play an increasingly important role in Canada’s fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. As a member of the Parks Canada team, you understand first hand just how important the work of the Agency is to Canadians for the health of ecosystems, for the understanding of our history and for the wellbeing of individuals and communities.

The 2023 Minister’s Round Table provides a valuable opportunity to hear the views and perspectives of Indigenous peoples, youth, stakeholders, and all Canadians on important questions facing national heritage places in Canada. I look forward to the results of this engagement and would like to invite, and encourage, each of you to consider participating in the conversation by visiting the Round Table engagement portal at: www.letstalkparkscanada.ca. Stay tuned to ParksNet and to the Parks Canada social media channels for updates on the progress of the dialogue.
