Info-Work: Brighton Road Swing Bridge

Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site

Peterborough, Ontario, February 1, 2019 – Travelers crossing Parks Canada’s Brighton Road Swing Bridge on County Road 64 can expect intermittent closures from Wednesday, February 6 to Friday, February 8, 2019. These closures will allow for continued filling and testing of the new bridge’s hydraulic system.

What to expect:

  • Intermittent road closures between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 6 – Friday, February 8
  • Closures to vehicles of approximately 15 minutes
  • Flag staff could be onsite directing traffic through one lane at other times
  • Further testing during warmer spring temperatures

Parks Canada apologizes for the inconvenience of these closures.

The replacement of the Brighton Road Swing Bridge is part of Parks Canada’s unprecedented $3 billion investment over 5 years to support infrastructure work to heritage, visitor, waterway, and highway assets located within national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas across Canada. These historic investments will mitigate health and safety risks, halt the loss of nationally significant built heritage, and stimulate the economy in communities across the country.
