Welcome to the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site!
Start your visit at the Information Centre, located in the Cavalier Building, across from the main entrance.
Drop in with questions at any time during your visit.
Guided walking tour
Enjoy a free guided walking tour with your paid admission. The guided tour is a great place to start exploring the many period rooms, exhibits, films, and different perspectives on the history of Halifax.
Living history demonstrations
Historical re-enactors take you back to 1869, when the famous 78th Highland Regiment were stationed in Halifax.
Demonstrations could include:
- Royal Artillery firing the Noon Gun
- 78th Highlander Drill Squad
- Pipes and Drums
- Soldiers' wives

Free activities for kids
Free admission for youth 17 and under includes the following activities:
- Become a Parks Canada Xplorer
- Play the Citadel Adventures game
