All of our birthday parties last for two hours, and include admission to the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site and the use of a private party room.

Fête in a Fort
Our do-it-yourself party, the Fête in a Fort lets you make your own adventures as you roam throughout the Halifax Citadel. Explore rooms and exhibits, watch demonstrations, or try on old soldiers’ uniforms - it’s all up to you!
Suitable for ages 5 to 12.

Citadel Celebration
Celebrate your birthday with the Halifax Citadel’s 78th Highlanders! Your host will teach you how to march and behave like a soldier as you scour the Halifax Citadel’s ramparts, casemates, and tunnels for enemy spies. Don’t let any escape!
Best for young Highlanders between ages 6 and 10.
Activities
The Citadel Celebration includes:
- A host dressed as a 78th Highlander
- A guided tour of the Halifax Citadel
- Historic “drill instruction” and a hunt for an enemy spy*
- Time for cake and presents

Artillery Adventure
Join the Royal Artillery and celebrate your birthday with a bang! Sign your enlistment papers, then learn how to raise signal flags and load a cannon just like gunners from the nineteenth century. Finally, watch the famous firepower of the British Army as the Halifax Citadel’s interpreters fire a cannon for your party!
Best for gunners between ages 8 and 12.
Activities
The Artillery Adventure includes:
- A host dressed as a gunner from the Royal Artillery
- A guided tour of the Halifax Citadel
- Interactive activities with the Citadel’s signal masts and 6 Pdr SBML field guns
- A firing demonstration just for your group!
- Time for cake and presents
