Info-Work: Temporary Closure for Paving

Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site

June 9, 2021, Peterborough, ON – A temporary closure of the fixed bridge at Lock 42 in Washago will be in place the week of June 14, to accommodate final paving of the road surface.

Work is expected to take two days, but will be weather dependent. Vehicles are asked to watch for signage, and alter routes accordingly. Due to the nature of the work, boat traffic on the Trent-Severn Waterway will not be affected.

Parks Canada is thankful for your patience and understanding during this delay.

Work on the fixed bridge at Couchiching Lock 42, which connects Canal Road above the lock near Washago, began in the winter of 2019/20. The scope of work has included a full replacement of the fixed bridge, re-facing of the bridge abutments, and road work on the bridge approaches.

The Government of Canada is investing over $615 million to support infrastructure work on the Trent-Severn Waterway as part of the largest federal infrastructure plan in the history of Parks Canada.
