Community Update: Bobcaygeon Swing Bridge

Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site

November 8, 2024 – BOBCAYGEON, ON – In April of this year, Parks Canada released a community update advising that temporary end lifts would be installed at the Bobcaygeon Swing Bridge to support normal bridge swing operations for the 2024 navigation season. These vertical end lifts successfully ensured the bridge sealed tightly to the abutments during swings, and now, Parks Canada maintenance crews are moving forward with their permanent installation.

Intermittent closures may be experienced over the coming weeks as the components are installed and tested. These intermittent closures will be timed to minimize impacts on the community. When closures of over one (1) hour in duration are planned, email notifications will be issued 24 hours prior to the disruption. Detour signage will be in place for the duration of the installation.

Parks Canada extends our sincere gratitude to the Bobcaygeon community for their patience and understanding. We remain committed to minimizing disruptions while ensuring the safety and functionality of this vital transportation link.

Parks Canada is leading this important infrastructure work to ensure safe navigation and transportation routes by improving waterway and highway assets located within national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas, including along the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site.
