Info-Work: Investigative Drilling at Port Severn Area Dams

Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site

November 17, 2016 Peterborough, ON – Parks Canada will be undertaking investigative drilling at the Port Severn Area Dams, along the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site, from November 22nd, 2016 until November 25th, 2016. This work is in preparation for the future rehabilitation of these assets.

Drilling will be completed on the Main Dam, as well as dams C through G, to provide information for the design and scope for future construction projects. In our bulletin on October 31st, 2016, we stated that this drilling might cause intermittent closures of Port Severn Road North, however this work is no longer expected to cause any traffic delays.

The work on the Port Severn area dams is part of Parks Canada’s unprecedented $3 billion dollar investment over 5 years to support infrastructure work to heritage, visitor, waterway and highway assets located within national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas across Canada. These historic investments will mitigate health and safety risks, halt the loss of nationally significant built heritage and stimulate the economy in communities across the country.
