Wood Buffalo National Park

Bannock on a Stick

Together with the Town of Fort Smith, Wood Buffalo National Park hosts Bannock on a Stick every second Wednesday evening this summer from 6-8 p.m.

Come out and cook bannock over an open fire while listening to different local guest storytellers. Hear tales and teachings about the land that’s also known as Fort Smith and Wood Buffalo National Park.

Pine Lake Picnic

Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 1-4 p.m.

The annual Pine Lake Picnic is back! Come together with us at the Pine Lake Day Use Area for lots of family fun and food. Spend your time enjoying a workshop hosted by the Northern Life Museum and Cultural Center and learn the basics of canoeing with The Fort Smith Paddle Club. Your little ones will love splashing in Pine Lake’s aquamarine water, and when they’re tired of that – our bubble station awaits. . Hope to see you there!

Dark Sky Festival

This year’s Thebacha & Wood Buffalo Dark Sky Festival is packed with great fun, as always, and features workshops hosted by author Richard Van Camp. We’re so excited to have you visit the largest Dark Sky Preserve in the world!
