Travel to PEI across one of the longest bridges in the world! Be sure to keep your eyes open for your first glimpses of the beautiful island coastline with its signature red cliffs on the approach. Count how many potato fields you see on the way to Prince Edward Island National Park, then stroll across the boardwalk at Cavendish Beach and dip your toes in the Atlantic Ocean.

Head to Cavendish Beach and take the Cavendish Dunelands trail to Oceanview. Enjoy the floating boardwalk and trail along the coastline to the fantastic lookout. Watch for bank swallows, bald eagles and other birds while you take in the views of sandy dunes to the west and sandstone cliffs to the right. If you’d rather drive, there’s lots of parking and the boardwalk is mobility-friendly!

Spend some time in the storybook world of Anne Shirley at nearby Green Gables Heritage Place. Explore the exhibits in the Visitor Centre, including the block model of Green Gables House and the international book cover wall.
Stroll the grounds and gardens, tour the House, and take some time to discover the peaceful magic of Lover’s Lane on the Balsam Hollow Trail or to walk the Haunted Wood trail. Watch for programs and activities in summer and you may even get a glimpse of the famous redhead yourself.
End your afternoon with an ice cream from the Cordial Café or some shopping at Green Gables Boutique.

Enjoy the park’s spectacular coastline of the Brackley-Dalvay area as you travel along Gulf Shore Parkway East past dunes, wetlands and krummholz forest. If you’re a cyclist, take advantage of the smooth and safe multi-use trail that twins it called Gulf Shore Way East. Take photos at scenic Covehead Lighthouse and pop into Dalvay by the Sea National Historic Site for a delicious lunch.

Head East to the treasure that is the Greenwich area. Visit the Interpretation Centre and learn about the cultural and nature history of this area. Don’t miss the exhibit about Marine Species at Risk with its full-scale models, including a leatherback turtle.
Walk the Greenwich Dunes trail through wooded areas and across a floating boardwalk to the spectacular views of rare parabolic dunes and beautiful Greenwich Beach.

Day 7

Head to the beach for a final beach day at Stanhope Beach, PEI National Park’s most family-friendly beach. Pack a picnic and take advantage of the kitchen shelter in view of the playground or simply spread it all out on your favourite beach blanket. Swim and play in the supervised surf zone and soak up enough sun, sand, surf and salty sea air to carry you through to your next visit to the park.
