From July 11 at 10:30 am to July 12 at 2:30 pm, first-time campers can discover the joys of a camping experience in a tent with the Learn-to Camp activity in La Mauricie National Park! Organized in partnership with Camps Odyssée and with the support of the Canadian Ski Patrol, this weekend includes a variety of workshops to learn basic camping skills. The event will be presented in both French and English.
Participants will camp at La Clairière group campground, accessible via the Saint-Mathieu entrance. The event will take place rain or shine.
Visitors can register until July 8, 2026 by calling 1-844-365-2646, between 10 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday (credit card only).

Learn-to Canoe-camp

Location(s): La Mauricie National ParkCost: $229.95 per person, including taxes, equipment, instructors and meals. Admission is free.Do you want to learn canoe-camping skills? From July 25 at 10:30 am to July 26 at 2:30 pm, take part in the Learn-to Canoe-camp activity, organized in partnership with Camps Odyssée. Enjoy an immersive experience guided by professional instructors, in a safe and inspiring environment. Learn how to plan, organize, and embark on a self-sufficient canoe-camping trip in an exceptional natural setting. La Mauricie National Park is the perfect place to discover the basics of canoe-camping. Participants will camp at La Clairière group campground, accessible via the Saint-Mathieu entrance.
Participants must be at least 10 years old. Young people aged 10 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Registration is open until July 17, 2026.

Les Défis du Parc

© Emmanuelle Gélinas Location(s): La Mauricie National ParkFrom September 11 to 13, La Mauricie National Park is proud to host the 19th edition of the event Les Défis du Parc, which offers road cycling, trail running, and walking challenges for both competitive athletes and recreational or contemplative sports enthusiasts, and for all age classes. Hosting a sporting event of this scale is the result of remarkable coordination work. The event is certified “eco-responsible, gold level” by the Fédération québécoise de sports cyclistes.
The events will take place on the hiking trails in the Rivière à la Pêche sector (Saint-Jean-des-Piles entrance), which will be accessible to visitors. They will also take place on the Parkway, which will be partially closed from Friday, September 11 at 9 pm until Saturday, September 12 at 6 pm approximately, between kilometers 6 and 62. The portion of the Parkway from the Saint-Mathieu entrance to the Mistagance Campground and the Shewenegan Picnic Area will be accessible to visitors.
The event will take place rain or shine.

Cycling on the Parkway

Location(s): La Mauricie National ParkCost: Activity fee ($14 taxes included) and entry fee are applied, free admission for youth 17 and under, activity without reservationLa Mauricie National Park is pleased to offer the Cycling on the Parkway special event on October 17, 18, 24 and 25 from 9 am to 2 pm. This event gives cyclists exclusive access to the entire Parkway after the seasonal closure of the road section from Lac Bouchard to the Saint-Mathieu entrance. Cyclist traffic during this event does not interfere with the park teams' operations in preparation for winter. The park facilitates active travel by offering cyclists a unique opportunity to enjoy a safe road, free of motor vehicle traffic from Lac Bouchard to the Saint-Mathieu entrance. The Parkway is 63 km in length, and is curvy, punctuated by ascents and descents and surrounded by magnificent, colourful fall landscapes.
The special event will take place rain or shine, but may be cancelled in the event of severe weather conditions.

The Cycling on the Parkway event will start at the Saint-Jean-des-Piles entrance, and participants can park their vehicles at the Rivière à la Pêche Parking Lot (which will be open to all visitors).
On October 17, 18, 24 and 25, the entire Parkway will be open to cyclists from 9 am to 4:30 pm and the last departures will be allowed at 2 pm. Anyone using the Parkway between Lac Bouchard and the Saint-Mathieu entrance outside these hours may be subject to legal proceedings under section 24(1) of the Canada National Parks Act.
Safety and guidelines
- Cyclists must always ride in line on the shoulder of the road.
- Electric bike travel is prohibited everywhere in La Mauricie National Park.
- Pedal-assist electric bikes are allowed only in the Parkway corridor.
- Be vigilant: animals and motor vehicles can circulate along or cross the road.
- Cyclists are responsible for their own safety and must be self-sufficient in the event of mechanical breakdown.
Facilities and services
- The Rivière à la Pêche Service Centre will be open and will be the only drinking water station along the road. It also has a changing room, pay-to-use showers, accessible and inclusive washrooms, and a dining room.
- A bicycle repair station is available in the Rivière à la Pêche Parking Lot.
- Outhouses are available along the road.
