Berry Hill Campground

Berry Hill is your basecamp for exploring Gros Morne. It is the park’s largest and most centrally located campground is complete with all the amenities you need to set up your home away from home. Whether you pitch a tent or rent a Rustic Cabin with views of Gros Morne Mountain, you can enjoy being in nature while you sit around the campfire or explore the forest and lowlands on the three hiking trails leaving right from Berry Hill campground.
Everything you might need or want is on the doorstep of the campground. Located in the center of the Park, Berry Hill is close to the towns of Rocky Harbour and Norris Point, giving you access to restaurants, shops, and activities. Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse, trails, geological sites, and boat tours are all a short drive down Berry Hill’s central location makes it a great base for day trips to explore all corners of Gros Morne.

Cabin area and group camping
Sensory features
- All six rustic cabins are equipped with autism friendly features such as frosted windows and blackout curtains to control light, as well as interior locks in case of wandering. Portable barriers for the wood stove are available at the campground kiosk. Please note that none of the cabins have lighting or electricity.

Mobility features
Rustic cabins: cabin one is accessible by a ramp (1100 mm wide with 2.5 degree slope) and a door width of 855 mm with 50 mm high threshold. The interior is on one level equipped with two sets of bunk beds. There is a fire pit surrounded by compacted gravel and is accessible from the cabin by a ramp. The picnic table can accommodate wheelchairs but is located on uneven grass surface. The cabin has no lighting or electricity.
Accessible pathways
1. Parking lot to cabin one:
- Distance: 25 m
- Surface: compacted gravel
- Slope: minimal
- Minimum width: 1400 mm
- Obstacles: transitions between gravel and cabin ramps maybe uneven or eroded.
2. Cabin one to washrooms:
- Distance: 65 m
- Surface: combination of compacted gravel and uneven grassy terrain with exposed roots and rocks.
- Slope: minimal
- Minimum width: 1400 mm
- Obstacles:
- Exposed roots and rocks in pathway.
- Transitions between pathway and door landing is raised.
3. Washrooms:
- One ungendered washroom with minimal accessible features.
- Doorway and landing area too small for most wheelchair users and has as raised threshold of 80 mm.
- Nearest accessible washroom is at the main campground (700 metres).
4. Showers:
- Two small ungendered showers with no accessibility accommodations or features.
- Nearest accessible shower is at the main campground (700 metres).
5. Other amenities:
- Kitchen shelter
- Attached to washroom building and accessible via same pathways.
- Transitions between pathway and entrances may be raised.
- No knee clearance with sink and counter.
- Picnic tables lack wheelchair access.

1. Serviced sites: site 46 is level with a compacted gravel surface but limited accessibility to the service posts with water and electrical connections. Picnic table does not accommodate wheelchairs. Distance to washrooms is 50 metres.
2. Unserviced sites: site 45 is level with a compacted gravel surface. Picnic table does not accommodate wheelchairs. Distance to washrooms is 25 metres.

- Compacted gravel and asphalt.
- In part shared vehicle route (max 10 km/h).
- Slope: minimal

- Obstacles: transitions between gravel and asphalt road maybe uneven or eroded.
Note: campground roads are asphalt.
2. Washrooms:
- One wheelchair accessible bathroom stall in each gendered washroom.
3. Showers:
- One ungendered shower room with roll-in shower stall.
- Shower stall equipped with grab bars, fold-down shower seat, and handheld showerhead.
