Program Options

Dark Sky Stories Campfire

The night sky has fascinated people all over the world for centuries. Help stories of the night sky come to life in the heart of the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve. This program is intended for youth audiences and is an interactive, participatory storytelling program about the constellations; a dark sky is not required.

Bison Tales Campfire

Gather around the fire while costumed park interpreters tell stories of the rise, fall, and return of bison. This program is intended for youth to adult audiences and is a storytelling program about the conservation story of bison; a dark sky is not required.

Gateway to the Stars

Experience the wonder of Elk Island’s night sky. In the heart of the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve, escape the city to gaze upon the countless stars in our galaxy and learn to navigate from one constellation to the next. This program is intended primarily for older youth and adult audiences and requires a dark sky; bookings are restricted to the fall and program times after sunset. The program will not be cancelled due to cloud cover.

Fees: View cost on fee page; teachers and chaperones are complimentary when visiting for a school program
Capacity: One group maximum per day; maximum of 30 participants per group
Offered: Variable program times throughout the year, each program is 1 hour
Language: Available in English or French
Please ensure that all groups have a fair chance to participate in our programs: give us at least two weeks' notice of any cancellations, so that we may offer the time slot to another group.
