Activities for private groups

Fur trade tour

Take a trip into the adventures of Indigenous trappers, French-Canadian voyageurs and European merchants during the fur trade era.

Theme: the fur trade

Audience: group of 15 to 40 people. This can be a family group, a group of friends, a social club, a group of employees, etc.

Period: mid-April to mid-November

Lenght: 60 minutes

Learn-to-Paddle - Voyageur Canoe Experience

A group of visitors are in a voyageur canoe with two Parks Canada guides, navigating the canal near The Fur Trade at Lachine National Historic Site.

Take part in an introductory voyageur canoe paddling activity presented by guide-interpreters from the Fur Trade at Lachine and Lachine Canal National Historic Sites!

Suggested content: explanations of paddling technique, guided voyageur canoe expedition on the Lachine Canal, interpretation of the fur trade, folk songs, and more.

Audience: groups of up to 10 people, with a minimum age requirement of 10 years old. This can be a family group, a group of friends, a social club, a group of employees, etc.

Period: June 21 to August 31, 2025, Thursdays and Fridays only

Schedule and length: there are two departures per day, at 10:30 am and 2 pm Please arrive at least 15 minutes in advance at the meeting point. The voyageur canoe experience lasts 2.5 hours (including travel time and water safety briefing).

Activity for French learning groups

Customized tour

The Fur Trade National Historic Site welcomes French learning groups and can customize the activity to suit the needs of their audience and the size of the group. This presentation becomes a pretext for vocabulary and conversation practice between the guide and the students.

Audience: intermediate and advanced French learning groups and accompanying persons

Customized tour

A female Parks Canada shows different types of fur to day camp children visiting The Fur Trade at Lachine National Historic Site.

The team at The Fur Trade National Historic Site can tailor a program and visit to suit the size of your day camp group and the duration of the activity.

Important information The Fur Trade National Historic Site does not offer a day camp program, but rather welcomes day camp groups for an adapted tour of half a day or less.

Audience: day camp groups. It is possible to accommodate several groups at the same time.

Period: June to August

Lenght: half a day or less

Languages offered: English and French
