2025 fire information updates

Fire Information Update – Monday November 3, 2025

The current fire danger level for Wood Buffalo National Park is LOW.

There are no new fires in Wood Buffalo National Park.

This will be the last fire information update for the 2025 season.

In 2025, Wood Buffalo National Park responded to 20 fires that burned an estimated 52,689 ha — less than 2% of the park’s total area. By comparison, 34,852 ha burned in 2024. The areas most affected this year fires were previously unburned area near the 2023 burn, including sections along Pine Lake Road and in the Hay Camp area.

2025WB012 in the Hay Camp area and 2025WB018 near Peace Point remain active and continue to be strategically managed. With the current weather conditions, these fires are not likely to increase in size or intensity. These fires may produce small amounts of visible smoke.

All other fires in Wood Buffalo National Park are extinguished.

All roads south of Hay Camp remain closed. This includes the road to Murdoch Creek, La Butte Tower and all other side roads and offshoots. Hazardous trees continue to present safety risks. During strong wind events, fire-damaged trees can be further weakened and at risk of falling. For your safety, please stay clear of the road closure.

Further communication will follow once the road is reopened in full.
