Privacy Notice Statement – Visitor Safety and Human Wildlife Coexistence
Parks Canada is committed to protecting your privacy. The personal information you provide is collected under the authority of the section 8 of the Canada National Parks Act, section 8 of the Parks Canada Agency Act, Section 8 of the Canada National Marine Conservations Areas Act, Section 8 of the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park Act, and section 5 of the Rouge National Urban Parks Act.
The personal information will be used for the purpose of receiving, assessing, investigating, responding to, and documenting incidents that occur in Parks Canada administered places or that relate to Parks Canada operations. This includes safety incidents, human‑wildlife interactions, security events, property damage, environmental occurrences, and other incidents requiring follow‑up.
Your information may be shared internally with Parks Canada officials who require it to perform their duties, including health and safety personnel, visitor safety teams, wildlife specialists or with law enforcement. Where required, information may also be shared with external organizations such as emergency services and law enforcement agencies to ensure safety of visitors and for Parks Canada to meet its obligations. Your personal information may be shared with Insurance Providers in case of an incident.
Your personal information will be used to evaluate the incident reporting program and support program management activities. Personal information may also be used for evaluation, reporting, audit, and policy development purposes. These additional uses will not result in an administrative decision being made about you.
Your personal information is administered in accordance with the Canada National Parks Act, Parks Canada Agency Act, National Marine Conservation Areas Act, Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park Act, Rouge National Urban Park Act and the Privacy Act. You have the right to the protection of, access to, and correction of your personal information, which is described in the institution specific Personal Information Bank Visitor Safety and Human Wildlife Coexistence (PC PPU 203).
