National urban park candidate sites

The 2021 federal budget committed to the creation of a network of up to 6 national urban parks by 2025. Parks Canada is currently working with partners in six urban areas to explore the potential for a national urban park.

Parks Canada is also engaged in exploratory conversations about a potential national urban park in Montreal, Quebec.

Future candidate sites

The December 2021 Minister’s Mandate Letter included a commitment to expand the program to 15 national urban parks.
