Recreational fishing
Forillon National Park
Recreational fishing remains a popular activity on the Gaspé Peninsula. Saltwater fish can be caught from the shore or dock within the boundaries of Forillon Park. The main species caught for eating are mackerel and striped bass.
In order to allow as many people as possible to enjoy fishing and to avoid wasting any fish, please follow Forillon National Park’s current regulations.
If you are unable to identify the species you have just caught, return it to the water quickly.

Fishing safety
Fishing safely from the dock.
The Grande-Grave wharf attracts many different types of users – e.g., fishers, divers, kayakers and pleasure-boaters. To ensure everyone’s safety, please follow the following rules:
- Whenever a boat draws near the wharf, make sure your line is not in the channel.
- Make sure you do not cast your line close to boats entering or exiting the harbour.
- Oftentimes there are many people at the end of the piers, so be extra careful whenever you cast your line and avoid standing too close behind other fishers.
- Whenever divers are present, please refrain from casting your line.
Tips Tips: You would like to fish for mackerel at the Grande-Grave wharf, but you don't have a fishing rod? You can rent one from our Cap Aventure concession holder at Grande-Grave harbour.
