The moose, the colossus of our forests: film and talk (in French)

Take part in an activity that showcases the beauty and complexity of boreal wildlife: an evening of film and discussion. Following the screening of the film Festin boréal (2024), by Quebec filmmaker Robert Morin, our colleague biologist and wildlife photographer Pierre Etcheverry will host a talk about the moose, this colossus of our forests, and the essential role of death in the health of the forest ecosystem. The talk will be followed by a discussion.

Here's the synopsis: Struck by an arrow, a moose escapes its pursuers to die deep in the forest, feasting on its fellow creatures. First wasps, flies and beetles, then crows, eagles, vultures, and finally all the carnivorous mammals of the boreal forest. The banquet is the occasion for games, rituals and conflicts between species and between rivals from the same families. By spring, there’ll be nothing left of the giant but the silhouette of his body imprinted on nature.

Meet at the Visitor and Discovery Centre (North Sector) at 7 pm.

This event is a collaboration between Cinélune de Gaspé, the City of Gaspé and Parks Canada.
