The fort is 8 km from Ville-Marie in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region. About 6,500 years ago, First Nations were already living on this historically rich land. The Enchanted Forest, so named for its trees twisted into strange shapes by strong winds, gives the impression of having been parachuted in from another world.

Stroll along Lake Témiscamingue’s magnificent pebble beach with the feeling that a trapper carrying beaver pelts could suddenly appear at any time. You are standing on the exact place where trappers came to sell the fruits of their labours to merchants and traders who would ship them on to Europe.

What would the rich Parisians who proudly wore their fur coats and felt hats look like? What a contrast between Paris and this peaceful place where city life seems so far away!
