Entrenchment 2

The Sedentary Militia was composed of men aged 16 to 60. At the time, this service was mandatory. Equipment and weapons were supplied whenever possible.

The Sedentary Militia soldier typically wore “country garb:” a cloth coat and hood, multi-coloured sash with glass beads, flannel shirt, tuque, wool socks, cloth coat and trousers. Unlike their officers, they didn’t wear a regulation uniform.

It is said that in 1813, Entrenchment 2 was linked to Entrenchment 3, forming a half-moon.

Today, you can see the vastness of the agricultural lands dotted with homes along the river, the landscape in which Entrenchment 2 was located.
