List of family names at Port-Royal in Acadie and along the Rivière du Dauphin before the Great Upheaval (1755)

Melanson Settlement National Historic Site

The Fédération des Associations de Familles Acadiennes (FAFA) researched the names of families who settled around the first colony of Port-Royal and along the Rivière du Dauphin (now Annapolis River) before the Deportation of 1755.

The present list is based on family names recorded in the censuses of 1707 and 1714, on the maps of the Rivière du Dauphin of 1708 and 1733 (Mitchell), and from other documents dated before 1755.

This list represents information from 2004. Any additional data would be appreciated by the FAFA.

FAFA thanks Parks Canada for placing a panel on the site of the Melanson Settlement dedicated to interpreting the way of life of Acadian families of the time.
