McLennan Centre
Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site
The copper-roofed building beyond is the museum that was built soon after Louisbourg’s historic significance was officially recognized in 1928. A popular feature in the museum is the model of the town built in the 1940s by Louisbourg’s first curator, Katherine McLennan (1892-1975). Let the view beyond the museum and the model inside remind you that only a fraction of Louisbourg stands reconstructed. In 1744 rooftops ran all the way out to the bastions that command the tip of the peninsula.
