Gros Morne Mountain Closure
The summit of Gros Morne Mountain, which includes the 8 km Summit Trail, is closed to visitors from May 1 to June 27, 2024, inclusive, to protect wildlife during these critical weeks of reproduction and growth. It will reopen to the public on June 28, 2024.
Whether you’re out for a leisurely hike or a longer adventure, make your trip a safe one by checking the latest conditions.
Remember, you are responsible for your own safety. Select a trip that best suits your party’s abilities and experience, interests, equipment and the time you have available.
Be Prepared
- Check the weather – be prepared for changes.
- Bring water, food, a headlamp and extra clothes.
- Tell somebody where you are going, when you will be back, and who to call if you do not return.
- Cell phone coverage is unreliable throughout the park.
- Hiking poles are helpful on steep and rugged terrain.
