Support sustainable waste management in Waskesiu!

Parks Canada invites organizations, businesses or individuals who would like to contribute to sustainable waste management in Waskesiu, Prince Albert National Park to submit their application.

Goals

Parks Canada is looking for an independent operator interested in safely collecting and removing refundable beverage containers for profit in Waskesiu Lake, Saskatchewan.

Project

The Request for Proposals process begins on February 16, 2026, and ends on March 16, 2026, at 11:59 pm.
Parks Canada is seeking proposals for the collection and removal of refundable beverage containers from collection points in the Waskesiu townsite, including the Beaver Glenn and Red Deer campgrounds.

There are approximately 50 collection points.

  • Some locations require multiple collections a week.
  • The service provider will gather and replace bags at the collection points before removing the gathered materials from the park.
  • The service provider is expected to provide their own collection vehicle, bags and safety equipment.

This is a non-monetary contract. In exchange for this collection and removal service, the service provider will keep all proceeds from the return of the refundable beverage containers.

Deadlines

  • February 16, 2026: Launch of the Request for Proposals
  • March 16, 2026, 11:59 pm.: Deadline for submission of proposals
  • March 17 to April 3, 2026: Analysis of proposals
  • April 6, 2026: Announcement of the selected proposal to the concerned proponent
  • May 11, 2026: Implementation of the new service offering

Selection Criteria

All proposals will be evaluated against the following mandatory requirements:

  • Complete Proponent Information
  • Ability to obtain commercial liability insurance

Proposals that meet all mandatory requirements will then be evaluated based on the following rated requirements:

  • Experience working in a safe work environment
  • Submitted operating proposal, which should include:
    • Description of the equipment to be used
    • Description of plan and schedule for collection
    • Description of safety plan of workers and the public
