Seasonal domestic animal regulations on Prince Edward Island National Park beaches in effect as of April 1
Issued: April 01, 2024
Ends: October 15, 2024
Charlottetown, PEI, March 28, 2024 – In order to provide a safe environment for visitors and to protect wildlife and their habitats, domestic animals – including dogs, cats, and horses – are not permitted on the beaches of PEI National Park from April 1 to October 15, 2024. Anyone found in violation of the regulation will be subject to a minimum fine of $100. r
The presence of domestic animals on beaches can disrupt wildlife, such as young animals and birds, including the breeding activity of the endangered Piping Plover, which nest on the ground.
Dogs are permitted in all other outdoor areas of the park. Visitors are reminded that all pets must be on a leash (maximum length 3 metres) at all times and owners are required to clean up after their pet.
