Cultural experiences

Auyuittuq National Park

Take the time on your trip to meet Inuit in the communities; see carvers, print makers and weavers in action. Taste Arctic char from the fiords, stay for a community event and take part in local games or follow in the footsteps of family who may have lived and worked here in decades past.

For hundreds of years, Inuit in the Arctic led a nomadic life, moving from one location to another following animals along their migration routes. Nunavut Inuit are not considered visitors in Nunavut national parks, as these places are their home. Parks Canada would like to remind you to respect Inuit hunting, fishing and trapping rights and refrain from interfering with these activities. Inuit may travel through the park by motorized vehicle for all manner of cultural purposes. Anyone transporting a visitor to the park for commercial gain requires license. All visitors must be registered.
