SUPERINTENDENT NOTICE

PROHIBITION TO IMPORT, POSSESS, AND BURN UNAUTHORIZED FIREWOOD

The purpose of this prohibition is to help mitigate the risk of introduction and spread of invasive species that threaten forests in Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site of Canada (Park).

Pursuant to section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, it is prohibited to:

(a) import, possess or burn firewood in the Park, except for some wood products, such as heat treated firewood or processed bricks that are in sealed and labelled packages, under the discretion of the superintendent.

For further information contact the Park Visitor Centre at (902) 682-2772. Your cooperation is appreciated. Violation of this prohibition or of the terms and conditions of a permit is an offence under the Canada National Parks Act; failure to comply may result in charges.

This prohibition is in effect until December 31, 2023
