WHAT: Access and entry into the Mount Stephen Fossil Beds is prohibited.

WHERE: Yoho National Park
This area is indicated in red on the attached map and is legally described as within the UTM NAD 83 coordinates 537900/5692800 to 537900/5693200 to 538400/5693300 to 538400/5692800.
Entry to the restricted area shown in blue is only permitted with a valid Restricted Activity Permit.
Information about registered Guided Hikes and Restricted Activity Permits may be obtained from the Visitor Information Centre in Field.

WHY: Protection of Burgess Shale fossils.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty
$25 000.
