Area Closure - Ross Lake Fire Guard

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent:
WHERE: The western 1.5km of the Great Divide Trail extending from the gate on O’Hara road to 100m west of the Ross Lake Trail junction. Also sections of the Ross Lake Trail in close proximity to the Fireguard unit as accessed both from the Great Divide Trail and Lake O’Hara Road. This closure includes the forested slope between Sink Lake and Ross Lake. Please refer to the closure map for a graphic description of the area.
WHY: To ensure public safety during Wildfire Risk Reduction activities. Equipment and crews are operating in the area creating safety hazards including tree felling, increased traffic, and smoke.
PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
