Winter Hiking & Snowshoeing (Yoho National Park of Canada)

Avalanche risk! When travelling beyond the marked trails, or past an avalanche danger sign, assume that you are in avalanche country - your group should be prepared with the appropriate knowledge, skills and equipment. For more information on winter travel and how to stay safe in the mountains, visit parksmountainsafety.ca. In order to prevent the spread of whirling disease, it is prohibited to enter any waterbody in Yoho National Park.

Moderate Sherbrooke Lake Trail See comment section 05-11-2024: Parking for Sherbrooke Lake is now located at the Great Divide Lodge, 400m east of the Sherbrooke Lake day use area. Parking is limited and visitors should have a backup plan in case the lot is full when they arrive. Easy Emerald Lakeshore Loop Fair. 15-11-2024: In early winter season, the trail starts by the Emerald Lake public washroom and follows the perimeter of the lake. Moderate Ross Lake Trail See comment section 05-11-2024: From the Lake O'Hara parking lot, follow Lake O'Hara Road until you reach the Ross Lake trailhead. The trail takes you to a small rockbound lake at 3.2 km. You will need to return the way that you came.
