Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, National Marine Conservation Area Reserve, and Haida Heritage Site
Entry and service fees are charged at most national parks and national historic sites, where revenues are kept to support visitor services and facilities. This means that every time you visit a park or site you are investing in its future — and in a legacy for future generations.
The following definitions apply to entry and service fee categories unless otherwise specified
Adult - Person 18 to 64 years of age
Senior - Person 65 years of age or over
Youth - Person 6 to 17 years of age
Free admission for youth 17 and under

Are you travelling independently?
If you're travelling to Gwaii Haanas on a self-guided trip, you will need to call our office starting February 15, 2024, at 9:00 PST at 1-877-559-8818 to make a reservation, pay your fee and arrange visitor orientation. Visitor orientation is mandatory before entering Gwaii Haanas.
Information required to make a reservation
To initiate your reservation, please provide the following information. We will connect with you via phone to collect payment, which can be made with any major credit card.
- First time visiting Gwaii Haanas (Y / N)
- Dates in & out of Gwaii Haanas
- Name, age category (youth = 0-17; adult = 18-64; senior = 65+), email (Not mailing) address and postal code for each person on this reservation
- Mailing address of group lead and phone number
- Type of transportation (kayak, powerboat, sailboat or other)
- If traveling by boat, please indicate name of the vessel, vessel registration number, country of registration
- If camping, please indicate
- tent, and tarp colours?
- Will you have a VHF Radio, Satellite phone, Spot device, or InReach?
- Are you being transported into Gwaii Haanas by a tour operator? Which one?
- Will you be using Moresby Camp, on Moresby Island?
- Where will you attend the mandatory Visitor Orientation?
- Please list emergency contact’s (one per group, NOT traveling with you) address, phone numbers & email?
- For each person, please indicate Yes or No to your email being added to the Gwaii Haanas emailing list?
Keep in mind that July and August are our busiest months and the number of visitors allowed to enter Gwaii Haanas each day is limited.
Are you travelling with a tour operator?
If you are travelling with a tour operator, you will make your reservation, pay your fee, and receive your orientation directly through your operator.

Free admission for youth 17 and under
As of January 1, 2018, admission to Parks Canada places for youth 17 and under is free! There’s no better time to create lasting memories with the whole family.

What is free?
Admission to all national parks, national historic sites, and national marine conservation areas operated by Parks Canada will be provided free of charge.
Free admission for youth only applies to places managed by Parks Canada. It does not apply to provincial parks, territorial parks, municipal and private parks, nor to the many historic sites not managed by Parks Canada.
Please refer to the full list of Parks Canada places before you plan your visit to take advantage of free admission for youth.
What is not free?
Parks Canada is pleased to offer free admission for youth at our parks and sites, however regular fees still apply for other experiences and services, such as:
- Camping, backcountry and other accommodations
- Canadian Rockies Hot Springs
- Northern Park Backcountry Camping and Excursion Permit
- Lockage
- Mooring
- Reservation fees
- Guided tours and hikes and programs not usually included with admission
- Some special event fees
- Firewood
- Backcountry overnight use
