Mount Revelstoke and
Glacier National Parks

EFFECTIVE DATE:
1200hrs July 12, 2024 until further
notice.


ACTIVITIES PROHIBITED:
Pursuant to section 3(1)(c) of the National Parks of Canada Fire Protection Regulations, the starting and/or maintaining of fires within Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks is hereby PROHIBITED by order of the Superintendent, Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks.


PROHIBITED:
This fire ban includes ALL wood or briquette fires, turkey fryers, Chimeneas, Tiki torches, and use of all portable fire pans/ pits/ boxes/ stoves and Park supplied fire receptacles.


EXEMPT:
Provided they are under direct supervision and CSA approved or UL certified:
• Propane or gas fuelled stoves and BBQs exclusively designed for cooking
• Portable propane fire pits
• Propane or gas fuelled lanterns (enclosed flame)
• Catalytic or infrared style heaters
WHERE:
This fire ban covers the entire national parks including all front and backcountry campgrounds and day use areas in both Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks.


WHY:
For the prevention of wildfire during Elevated Fire Danger conditions in Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks.

NOTE:
It is an offence under the Canada National Parks Act to contravene these prohibitions. Failure to comply may result in immediate cancellation of the camping permit, evictions from the campground and violators may be charged. Maximum penalty $25 000.
