WHAT: Special Closure in Effect. Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the Canada National Parks Act General Regulations: All use of the NRC Gully Trailhead Parking and adjacent area (see attached map) is hereby prohibited.

WHERE: NRC Gully Trailhead Parking and adjacent area which includes “Macdonald W shoulder #4” and “NRC gully”.

WHY: A portion of the West Rogers Winter Restricted Area is closed due to ski tracks accessing the MacDonald West Prohibited Area from the adjacent WRA. The MacDonald West Prohibited Area is essential for avalanche forecasting in Rogers Pass. Violations of the Prohibited Area have significant impacts on Parks Canada's ability to manage avalanche activity along the highway corridor. The area will be closed at least until the next major snowfall. Further violations may lead to additional extended closures.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act. Maximum penalty $25 000.
