Balu Pass - Group of Four

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, a Restricted Activity Order has been instituted by the Superintendent, Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks:
Hiking parties must be in a group size of four adults or more.
The maximum distance between two individuals must not exceed 3 metres and should be less when sight or hearing is reduced by the physical surroundings.
It is strongly recommended that hikers carry bear spray and know how to use it.
WHERE: Balu Pass trail from Connaught Creek to Balu Pass, Glacier National Park.

WHY: To minimize disturbance to grizzly bears.
PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act. Maximum penalty $25 000.
