Jasper is open to visitors. If you plan to travel to Jasper, check what’s open and available before you go.
The following areas in the park have been assessed for fire danger and dangerous trees and are deemed safe to reopen.

- All pullouts are open.
- All viewpoints are open.
- Miette Mine and Sulphur Skyline Trails are open.
- Miette campground and the connector trail between Mine Trail and the campground remain closed.
- Accessing the backcountry from these trails is not permitted. Closures begin at the Mystery Lake turnoff from Sulphur Skyline.
Miette Hot Springs is open to the public. At this time, all Jasper residents are provided free access to the hot springs.

Highway 16 and the Icefields Parkway are open to through vehicle traffic 24 hours/day.
AB Highway 16 (Yellowhead Highway)

East of Jasper Townsite
- Use of frontcountry facilities, such as day-use areas, highway pullouts, frontcountry trails is permitted unless indicated as closed.
- Jasper House viewpoint is open.
- Talbot Lake and Jasper Lake are open.
- The climbing area at Morro Slabs is open.
- The climbing area at The Suburbs is open.
- All access to the Overlander Trail is closed. Respect all barriers and signage. This area is not safe to enter.
West of Jasper Townsite
- Use of frontcountry facilities, such as day-use areas, highway pullouts and frontcountry trails is permitted unless indicated as closed.
- Dorothy and Christine Lakes Trails are open.
Icefields Parkway (AB 93N)

- Athabasca Falls day-use area is open.
- Day-use areas, pullouts and roadside facilities are open unless indicated as closed.
- Frontcountry trails are open from the Jasper-Banff boundary until Honeymoon Campground unless indicated as closed.
- Frontcountry campgrounds are closed.
- Icefields Centre – Athabasca Glacier is open (103 km south of Highway 16/93N junction).
- Chaba and Poboktan trails are closed

Closures and relevant trail information is shared on the Jasper National Park Trail Conditions page.
Please stay on designated trails and respect all closures as there may be partial trail closures where work is still needed.
Tree assessment and dangerous tree removal have only been completed on designated trails and areas marked as open. Wandering off trails can harm delicate ecosystems and also puts YOU at risk.

Campgrounds
Campgrounds
Campgrounds in Jasper National Park including self-serve and backcountry campgrounds will remain closed until further notice.
Reopening visitor offers requires removing hazards such as fallen trees, repairing infrastructure, and restoring several services, including emergency response services, garbage collection, washroom cleaning, maintenance. This work has begun, but these activities take significant expertise and resources. All remaining campground and associated reservations for this season will be cancelled and those with bookings will be fully refunded.

Parks Canada is continuing to contact visitors to return camping gear, personal belongings and vehicles that were left behind. This process includes ensuring the safety of sites from hazards before belongings may be retrieved. If you have not yet retrieved your property, please continue to standby. When it is safe to return, you will be contacted.
Updates for the 2025 camping season will be shared on Jasper National Park’s website and social media channels when available.

Parks Canada continues to assess fire impacted facilities and working towards reopening areas that were not affected by fire. We thank you for your patience and look forward to welcoming visitors back to Jasper once it has been deemed safe.

Jasper National Park area reopenings are paving the way to recovery
- September 20, 2024: Saturday Night Lake Loop Trail, Magic Ridge Trail, the Suburbs climbing area and the remainder of unburnt privies and pullouts on the Icefields Parkway reopen.
- September 13, 2024: Snaring/Celestine Road reopen to Moberly Homestead. All day use areas from the Icefields Centre until Honeymoon Campground, Wilcox Pass Trail, and the Pyramid Bench area trails including Marjorie Lake Trail and Discovery Trail reopen.
- September 6, 2024: The Icefields Parkway (93N) reopens to cyclists. All pullouts and viewpoints reopen on Miette Road:, including frontcountry trails Miette Mine and Sulphur Skyline. Along Highway 16, all highway pullouts, day use areas and trails are open. Talbot Lake, Jasper Lake, the climbing area at Morro Slabs, as well as Dorothy and Christine Lakes trails reopen.
- September 1, 2024: Roadside privies along Highway 16, the Miette River Pullout, Overlander Trail, Jasper House and Hidden Valley reopen. Roadside privies on 93N, Goats and Glaciers, Stutfield Glacier and Tangle Falls reopen.
- August 24, 2024: Many trails on the Pyramid Bench reopen.
- August 23, 2024: 93N reopens to vehicle traffic.
- August 20, 2024: Highway 16 fully reopens.
- August 18, 2024: Miette Hot Springs reopens.
- August 16, 2024: Town and transfer station re-entry for residents.
- August 9, 2024: Highway 16 reopens to all traffic from 7 am to 9 pm. 93N from Saskatchewan River Crossing to the Icefields Centre also reopens.
- August 4, 2024: Highway 16 is open during limited times to evacuated Jasper residents in BC to travel back to Alberta.
- August 1, 2024: Highway 16 reopens to commercial traffic between the hours of 5:00 am - 7:00 am, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
