Self-guided walking tour

Start your self-guided walking tour at the belvedere, located on the roof of the visitor centre, which offers a unique view of the historic site.

Continue to explore the military remains, the lock canal (the first in North America!) and the rigolet canal. Don't miss the blockhouse, a replica of a British military building built for the War of 1812.

End your visit with a moment of relaxation on a bench in the wooded area along the river.

Interpretive activities

The Parc régional du canal de Soulanges, a tourism partner of Coteau-du-Lac National Historic Site, offers a summer program of interpretive activities that allow visitors to discover the region’s rich heritage and the history of the canal.

Schedule: every Wednesday, from July 8 to August 19, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm, and are open to all. No advance reservation required.

Additional interpretive activities are also offered on Sundays, July 12 and 26, and August 2, 16 and 23, 2026, as well as on Saturday, August 1, 2026, upon reservation only. Advance reservations are required via email at info@canaldesoulanges.ca or by phone at 438-405-2300.
