Safety instructions to follow

• Be respectful and signal your intentions.
• Respect the signs and traffic corridors reserved for them.
• On the Lachine Canal path: the stone dust-covered path is reserved for the exclusive use of walkers.
• On the Chambly Canal path: Keep an eye on the road surface, which can be uneven, and be careful not to skid. Steer clear of the edge of the walls and the rock taluses that border the canal.
• Domestic animals must be kept on a leash at all times, and it is important to clean up after your pet.
• Please respect the maximum speed limit of 20 km/h on the trail.
• When you see this sign , walk beside your bike.
• Ride in a single file when travelling in a group.
• Stay on the path, and at all times avoid approaching the footbridges and locks, where there is a real risk of falling.
• In spring and autumn, beware of black ice.

Tips before setting off with your bike

• Inspect your bicycle regularly, check the condition of the brakes and tires, and ensure that it is equipped with the mandatory visibility equipment. A bicycle in good condition will allow you to travel efficiently and safely.
• If you ride in the dark, think about equipping your bicycle with headlights: they will light up the path and help other users see you clearly.
• Wear a helmet and any other safety equipment appropriate for your activity.
