Camping at lockstations

Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site

Learn about the different types of camping available at lockstations and which option is right for you.

Reservable Camping

Reservable campsites are a safe and affordable way for any traveller to set up a tent, unwind and experience life at the locks. You don’t need a boat to enjoy these hidden gems. Families looking for a fun place to make new memories will enjoy the authentic feel of these historic sites and the access they provide to nearby activities and nature.

What lockstations offer Reservable Camping?
How do I reserve? Reservable camping can be booked online or by phone:
National Reservation Service
Phone number: 1-877-RESERVE (737-3783)

What is included?

Check the Parks Canada Reservation Service for complete details related to either site.

Thru-camping

Thru-camping is only available to boaters, paddlers and cyclists who are passing through a lockstation on a multi-day journey and looking to set up a tent. Thru-camping can not be reserved and is at the discretion of the lockmaster. Avoid the crowds and tap into the peace and quiet of a familiar place.

How does it work?

Visitors should arrive during hours of operation and speak to the lockmaster. The lockmaster will arrange payment on-site and show you where to camp and grant access to the washrooms. If arriving after hours, please call the lockstation during hours or operation in advance of your arrival. Boaters who pay for overnight mooring receive a complementary space for one tent.
