York Redoubt National Historic Site
York Redoubt National Historic site is located at the mouth of the Halifax Harbour in Fergusons Cove. It is 20-minute drive from downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia and a 40-minute drive from the airport.
The grounds are open year-round. The washrooms and parking lot are open from June 25 to the first Monday in September (Labour Day). Admission is free.
Dress for the rocky and wooded terrain and the variable seaside climate. Bring a warm jacket as temperatures can change quickly.
The fortification is closed for the season. The grounds are open but there is no winter maintenance. Parking is available outside the gate.

Directions
By car
The site is off Route 253 (Purcells Cove Road). From downtown Halifax, follow Quinpool Road or Chebucto Road to the Armdale round about. Drive around the round about and take the exit onto Herring Cove Road. At the lights, proceed left onto Purcells Cove Road. Drive about 8km and look for the Parks Canada Beaver sign on the left.
Driving time: about 20 minutes from downtown Halifax, or 10 minutes from the Armdale Rotary.
By public transit
Bus 15 toward Purcells Cove takes you to York Redoubt. Check service and schedules at Halifax Transit.
Aiport
The nearest airport is Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
