Summer Contest Rules 2025

ELIGIBILITY

The contest is open to anyone at least 18 years old that is participating at the “Summer Contest 2025” on the Lachine Canal from April 1 to August 31,, 2025. Parks Canada employees cannot participate in this contest, nor can the members of their immediate families or their legal or common-law spouses, or anyone with whom such employees are domiciled. 

HOW TO ENTER CONTEST

By visiting a Parks Canada’s kiosk where there is the “Summer Contest 2025”, visitors can complete a free entry form and deposit it on the site in the location provided for this purpose (contest box). Each participant is entitled to one (1) participation only, equivalent to one (1) entry form. Parks Canada reserves the right to cancel participation in the case where (but not exclusively):

  • a participant has completed more than one entry form;
  • the information on the entry form is illegible;
  • the information on the entry form prohibits the individual from participating. 

DATE AND TIME LIMITS FOR PARTICIPATION

Date and time limits to participate in the contest is Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 23 PM ET. 

DETAILED DESCRIPTION AND VALUE OF THE PRIZES OFFERED (value about 700$) 

  1. A 2-night stay in an oTENTik at the Saint-Ours Canal National Historic Site (valued at $200) from August 29 to 31, 2025.
  2. Two (2) Family/Group Discovery Passes, each valued at $151,25.
  3. A free introductory session during a private group activity (up to six participants for paddleboarding and kayaking | eight participants for the canoe experience and ten for the rabaska experience), valued at $100.
  4. A free canoe initiation for two people among all the paddle activities of your choice, worth $20 in total.
  5. A free kayak initiation for two people among all the paddle activities of your choice, worth $20 in total.
  6. A free paddleboard introductory session for two people, valued at $20.
  7. A free Rabaska introductory session for two people, valued at $20.

 The prizes only include what is specified in this document, and no other allowance, compensation or substitution will be awarded. 

The winner and people that are accompanying him must, without limitation to those listed, assume the following expenses:

  • The costs which may result from the kilometrage exceeding the credit offered;
  • The cost of meals and beverages during the stay;
  • Gratuities and taxes of any kind (where relevant);
  • All personal expenses related to the stay. 

METHOD OF AWARDING PRIZES

A random draw, from all the entries duly completed and deposited in the boxes for this purpose during the various deployments up to the date preceding each contest, will be conducted at Parks Canada's offices in Montreal to determine the winner(s) on the following dates: 

  1. A 2-night stay in an oTENTik at the Saint-Ours Canal National Historic Site (valued at $200) from August 29 to 31, 2025: draw on August 8, 2025.
  2. Two (2) Family/Group Discovery Passes, each valued at $151,25: draw on September 1st, 2025
  3. A free introductory session during a private group activity (up to six participants for paddleboarding and kayaking | eight participants for the canoe experience and ten for the rabaska experience), valued at $100: draw on July 1st, 2025.
  4. A free canoe initiation for two people among all the paddle activities of your choice, worth $20 in total: draw on July 8, 2025.
  5. A free kayak initiation for two people among all the paddle activities of your choice, worth $20 in total: draw on July 15, 2025.
  6. A free paddleboard introductory session for two people, valued at $20: draw on July 23, 2025.
  7. A free Rabaska introductory session for two people, valued at $20: draw on July 30, 2025. 

The chances that the entry form of a participant is selected randomly depend on the number of entry forms received in accordance with item No. 2. The winner will be notified by phone or e-mail within one week of a draw date. 

CONDITIONS

  • In order to be declared a winner, the person whose contact information is on the entry form drawn at random must be reachable by phone by the contest organizers within three (3) days of the draw. It is the responsibility of each participant to provide a phone number or a valid e-mail which he can be reached at between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Sunday. 
  • The prize cannot be converted into cash, is non-refundable, non-transferable and non-exchangeable. 
  • In the event of an impossibility to provide the prize as described in this document, Parks Canada Agency reserves itself the right to substitute a prize or prizes, in whole or in part, of an approximately equivalent value. 

PERSONAL DATA – PRIVACY POLICY

No personal data appearing on the entry forms will be saved. After the draw of the winning form, the other forms will be destroyed mechanically. 

The only personal data retained will be the e-mail of the participants who checked the box to the effect that they wish to receive the In the Loop newsletter, in order to add them to the newsletter mailing list.
