Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites
Current area closures of Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites.
For restoration purposes and/or safety reasons, these closures are clearly marked, and signage is posted.
These closures are:
- The washrooms located at the Second World War Officer’s Quarters.
- Washrooms in the main parking lot and by the lighthouse are available.
- The oTENTik camping experience is unavailable for the 2025 season.

There isn’t a better backdrop than Fisgard Lighthouse to celebrate Canada Day.
Join us for a festive day featuring live music, historic weapons demonstrations and a 21-gun salute, the best summer heritage and nature programs, interactive community booths, and grilled and chilled treats. Mark the day with your annual family picture by Canada’s giant flag at Fisgard Lighthouse.
Schedule
10:30 am to 4 pm
- At various locations
- Interpretive Programs: dive into Canada’s rich heritage and nature.
- Community Partners’ Booths: see their latest initiatives and participate in creative activities.
- Stunning photo backdrops: capture memories of this special day, including with the giant Canada flag at Fisgard Lighthouse.
- Meet with members of the 5th (B.C.) Field Artillery Regiment of RCA at the information and recruitment booth.
- At the Canteen
- Summer Treats: indulge in specially crafted ice cream and refreshing cold sodas.
- Summer Grill: Feast on delicious finger licking food prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary.
11:00 am – 3:00 pm (approximative time)
- In the main field
- Live music: enjoy patriotic melodies by The Band of 5th (B.C.) Field Regiment of RCA.
12:00 – noon
- In the main field
- 21-gun salute by the 5th (B.C.) Field Artillery Regiment of RCA
- Impressive Howitzer on display until 1 p.m. following the 21-gun salute
1:30 pm – 2:15 pm
- In the main field
- Historic weapons demonstration of small arms (“Soldier’s Best Friend”) by Parks Canada interpreters
2:45 pm to 3:00 pm
- In the main field
- Historic weapons demonstration of Victorian era Field Gun (“Firepower”) by Parks Canada interpreters
Shuttle services:
From the Colwood Western Exchange Park & Ride to Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse NHS will be offered from 11:30 am to 3:15 pm.
