2010-11 Report on Annual Expenditures for Travel, Hospitality and Conferences

As required by the Treasury Board Directive for the Management of Expenditures on Travel, Hospitality and Conferences, this report provides information on the total annual expenditures for each of travel, hospitality and conferences for Parks Canada Agency for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011.

This information is updated annually and does not contain information withheld under the Access to Information Act or the Privacy Act.

Expenditures on travel, hospitality and conferences incurred by federal departments and agencies are for the most part directly related to supporting departmental mandate(s) and the government's priorities.

In particular, for Parks Canada Agency, this includes the delivery of the following core programs and/or services to Canadians:

Significant variances compared to the previous fiscal years

In early 2009-10, Parks Canada Agency implemented an expenditure reduction strategy which included targeted reductions to travel, hospitality and conferences. The Agency has made investments in alternative means for holding meetings such as teleconferencing and videoconferencing to facilitate achievement of these targeted reductions. The magnitude of the savings is close to 30% for travel while hospitality and conferences expenditures have decreased by over 50%.
