Privacy impact assessment summary for the Parks Canada Uniform Program

Description

The Parks Canada uniform is a key element of its public image and brand. It provides function-specific uniforms that act as an important visual cue of the work being performed by staff, while ensuring that employees are appropriately equipped to carry out their duties safely.

Overview and PIA initiation

The Parks Canada Employee Uniform Program collects and stores personal information to provide well-fitted, function-specific uniforms for different operational groups. The personal information collected includes name, physical attributes, personal record identification code, medical information, and the collection of opinions on items evaluated by testers. A privacy impact assessment was completed to examine how personal information is collected, used, disclosed, retained, and disposed of. It identifies potential privacy risks and recommends measures to mitigate them while supporting the safe and effective work of Parks Canada employees.

Summary of analysis and recommendations

Overall, the Parks Canada Uniform Program is in compliance with the Privacy Act and the Treasury Board of Canada Policy on Privacy Protection. There are low levels of risk associated with retention and disposal of personal information.
