Camping and fire authorization

FIRE AUTHORIZATION
Pursuant to the National Parks of Canada Fire Protection Regulations, a permit is required for starting and maintaining fires in National Parks. This notice serves as written permission to start and maintain fires from November 16 to March 31 in the following areas of Kluane National Park & Reserve:
- The ice surface of Kathleen Lake (when frozen); and
- Backcountry settings (at least 2km from the visitor’s nearest point of motorized access). Fires must be on non-vegetated surfaces.
Open fires are also allowed at any time for day-use purposes (not associated with overnight use) when contained in the steel fire rings, as provided by the Park. You are required to completely extinguish your fire and remove all garbage prior to leaving the site. Any posted fire bans or restrictions will supersede this authorization.
CAMPING AUTHORIZATION
Pursuant to the National Parks of Canada Camping Regulations all camping within National Parks requires a camping permit, and the Superintendent may issue a camping permit, specifying the period and location to which that permit applies.This notice serves as written permission to camp in backcountry settings (at least 2km from the highway and parking lots) in Kluane National Park & Reserve from November 16 to March 31, except when an area closure or camping restriction/prohibition is in effect.. This authorization does not include camping within the Kluane Icefields area, where permits are required year-round.
