Re-surfacing works at Rouge Beach Day Use Area

Issued: July 04, 2024

Ends: August 01, 2024

Starting the week of Monday, July 8, Parks Canada contractors will undertake re-surfacing work on top of the foundation of the former washroom building at the Rouge Beach Day Use Area. The concrete pad will be resurfaced with recycled rubber material similar to the soft non-slip rubber material found in many municipal playgrounds. Once the resurfacing is complete, Parks Canada will enhance the experience of visitors by installing a shade sail structure, new picnic tables and hammocks for public use.

Work, including site preparation, is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete and will be carried out both on weekdays and throughout the weekends. Schedules are subject to change.

The Waterfront Trail is expected to remain open with a temporary detour in place around the fenced work area. Visitors are asked to respect closures, signage and the direction of on-site staff. Visitors should also keep a safe distance from maintenance crews and onsite equipment and be aware of some minor disturbances. Temporary washrooms will be available at Rouge Beach through September.

Parks Canada thanks the visiting public for their patience during ongoing works to improve facilities and the overall visitor experience at Rouge Beach and Marsh.

Visitors should direct questions or comments about planned works to rouge@pc.gc.ca.
